Presentations of quality improvement initiatives are provided below. Teams that achieve outstanding results participate in a QC competition held by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, where they compete and further strive to improve their level of quality. For the Local Community
Developing the Next Generation
Establishment of a Training Center and Participation in the National Skills Competition
The Training Center was established to improve skills, pass down technical expertise, and develop employee talent. Here, employees are selected as prefectural representatives to undergo daily training with the goal of achieving top rankings at the National Skills Competition held every November. The center also serves as a place where employees hoping to obtain national technical certifications can hone their skills and lay the foundations for career development.
Established in 1963, the National Skills Competition is a technical contest in which participants up to the age of 23 compete to win recognition as the best in Japan in their respective fields. Competitors train for two years and are then eligible to make two attempts. The competition features 42 categories, with more than 1,000 participants selected from all over the country. Togami Electric employees compete in the milling machine category.
Competition requires advanced skills—tasks for which even a deviation of one hundredth of a millimeter results in failure. Competitors must complete a designated task within five hours, making it a highly demanding competition that requires not just technical skill, but mental strength and concentration.
